High-Altitude Shooting & Drone Policy
Guidelines for ethical visual documentation, UAV aerospace restrictions in Himalayan borderland frontiers, and the defense of indigenous cultural dignity.
1. Purpose & Documentation Integrity
World Economic Mobility Limited (WEML) celebrates authentic high-altitude visual storytelling. We encourage participants to record cryospheric changes, physiological endurance, and alpine vistas. However, documentation must never compromise life-safety, damage fragile permafrost habitats, or infringe upon the privacy of indigenous communities residing in remote frontier valleys.
2. Cultural Sensitivity & Sacred Sanctity
-
Informed Consent Required: Prior explicit verbal or written consent is mandatory before capturing recognizable photographs or video of indigenous Shauka and Kumaoni community members, particularly children and elders.
-
Sacred Shrines & Temples: Filming inside sanctum sanctorums, active religious rituals, sacred springs, and mountain burial sites is strictly prohibited unless authorized by the local Gram Pradhan and temple committee.
-
No Exploitative Depictions: Imagery depicting local community members in a sensationalized, impoverished, or staging context is unacceptable and will result in revocation of expedition credentials.
3. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Guidelines
Due to geographic proximity to international borders and military air traffic corridors in Uttarakhand and Ladakh, the operation of drones is subject to stringent federal oversight:
4. Zero-Trace Production Standard
Media teams must adhere to zero-trace principles without exception:
- No artificial set dressing, paint, smoke flares, or chemical effects in alpine testbeds.
- No single-use battery disposal: every depleted battery must be registered in the gear log and brought back.
- No disturbing nocturnal wildlife with high-intensity portable floodlights outside designated campsite perimeters.
5. Commercial Broadcasts & Violations
Fellows documenting their personal journey for non-commercial social journals or scientific academic papers are permitted to shoot under standard guidelines. However, any planned commercial cinematic release, OTT documentary, or brand sponsorship requires formal accreditation from the WEML Media Directorate. Unauthorized commercial productions or violations of drone safety will result in immediate confiscation of permits and exclusion from expedition cohorts.
