Buran Ghati is arguably the most picturesque all-rounder trek in the Himalayas. Starting from the heritage apple village of Janglik in Himachal Pradesh, it winds past ancient silver birch groves and high glacial lakes before reaching the razor col of Buran Ghati.

The hallmark of Buran Ghati is the thrilling technical rappel down an ice wall on the Kinnaur side, followed by a series of snow glissades down to Barua village.

FIELD STAGES // 03

Itinerary

7 Days
Drive through Rohru and Pabbar valley into the traditional wooden village of Janglik.
Ascend past pine forests into the lush rolling green meadows of Dayara.
Trek along Pabbar river with views of Gunas Pass in the backdrop.
Acclimatization excursion to the pristine glacial cirque lake of Chandranahan.
Climb to high moraine camp with direct views of the Buran Ghati ridge.
Reach the narrow col and rappel down the 400m snow wall into Kinnaur.
Walk through Kinnauri apple orchards and return transfer to Shimla.
